Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Clinical Training

December 6-8, 2023
THIS TRAINING IS NOW FULL. Click below for information about other trainings scheduled this year.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with trauma-related symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress. TF-CBT has over 20 studies showing its effectiveness in decreasing PTSD and depressive symptoms in children and teens and improving the relationship between children and their caregivers.

This intermediate 3-day training for clinicians, led by TF-CBT National Trainer, Dr. Carole Swiecicki, Ph.D., equips therapists with the skills, knowledge needed to deliver this effective treatment. This will be a live, virtual training with both didactic and experiential content. The training program includes 12 consultation calls (conducted in small groups, twice per month for 1 hour each) and meets standards for National Certification in TF-CBT. More details are below.

CHILDHOOD ADVERSITIES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH 1/4 OF THE ONSET OF ALL PSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS IN CHILDHOOD (MCLAUGHLIN ET AL., 2012)

that is where effective therapy comes in...

Clients' histories do not have to define their future. Children and teens who complete TF-CBT show significant reductions in PTSD, depression and anxiety symptoms. TF-CBT is delivered in 12-25 sessions and must be delivered with attention to clinical rapport, child and family values, and competence in each of the components

Therapists who complete the full, recommended TF-CBT training program report increased confidence in delivering effective trauma treatment (Sprang et al., 2020). Therapists who deliver evidence-based treatments are also at lower risk for burn-out!
