Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

The need for effective therapy for children and teens with histories of trauma and stress has never been so great. Therapists are inundated with demand, and are in need of training and support to help children, teens and families improve. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents ages 3-17 with trauma-related symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress.

This live, virtual 3-day training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy led by TF-CBT National Trainer, Dr. Carole Swiecicki, Ph.D. covers the fundamental techniques of TF-CBT and includes 1 hour focused on ethical considerations in delivering trauma treatment with youth.

Ethical considerations in treating traumatized youth

This live, virtual 3-hour training aims to build knowledge and understanding for clinicians working with traumatized youth through providing education on research and best practices, using case examples that illustrate common ethical considerations/dilemmas that occur when working with traumatized youth.

This training will focus on two common ethical considerations with this population: 1) balancing our mandate to “do no harm” while simultaneously providing a treatment that elicits distress through exposure work, and 2) ethical considerations in pre-trial therapy for youth involved with criminal proceedings.
